Sex Criminals Volumes 1, 2, & 3: Fun Adult Comic!

I just finished reading the first three volumes of the comic series SEX CRIMINALS. These volumes collect the first 15 comic books together, 5 per volume, for one stop, quirky sex shop bulk reading.

Overall, Sex Criminals is funny and entertaining. The comic series was optioned to be worked into a tv show concept, we'll see if that ever comes full circle into becoming a thing, but as reading material I do reccomend these if you are a fan of comics and adult, often low-brow (though witty!), sex humor.

The basic concept: A woman who finds that time freezes for her after she orgasms, discovers a fellow with the same power. They stop time together to rob banks in order to try and save the library where she works from being closed down by the bank. It expands beyond that in what I would call, quirky "superpower" or "superhero" sort of discoveries, all with a funny, kinky edge.

Justice League Movie Trailer Reaction

I assume the movie Justice League will be at least six hours long with the bulk of the scenes playing out in slow motion. 😛

Book Review: The Scarlet Gospels By Clive Barker

At first it was refreshing to open a Clive Barker book and sink into his imaginative writing. However, not long after the opening of the book The Scarlet Gospels I found my interest waning.

I eventually gave up and did not finish reading The Scarlet Gospels. I made it most of the way through the book and discovered I did not care how it ended. (I looked up the ending on Wikipedia.) The writing style and story just became very boring. As I thought on how I would critically describe it, the thought "this feels like it was written by more than one person," came to me, with the dialog and story becoming "stiff." I went online and discovered that many people, fans of Clive Barker works such as myself, got the exact same feeling when reading the book.

I plan to get into some of the Hellraiser and Clive Barker graphic novels and comics that I have never explored, but as for the book The Scarlet Gospels, featuring his popular characters Pinhead (The Hell Priest) and Harry …

El Monterey Taquitos Vs Jose Ole Taquitos: Chicken vs Chicken

I've got both El Monterey and Jose Ole Flour Chicken and Cheese taquitos in my freezer. Which is better?

The Jose Ole brand are bigger sized taquitos and take about 15 seconds or so longer to cook. The outside of that brand of taquito is also softer than the tighter wrapped and smaller El Monterey taquitos.

It's all about the innards though! El Monterey has more of an onion and salsa sharpness to the flavor in my opinion. The Jose Ole taste more like a musty cheese enchilada meets a bean burrito. I do not think there are beans in the Jose Ole taquitos, but the inside paste has that taste and texture to me somewhat. I hate beans, by the way. For me, the El Monterey taquitos end up tasting better, a little less pasty, and are the winner between these two brands of taquitos. (of course, everyone's taste buds are different, so, to each their own taquitos!)

WINNER: El Monterey Chicken & Cheese Taquitos

Indecent Proposal Bed Scene Reimagined

Okay, this is bad, I don't have photoshop, but I was trying to do something funny to reply with on a message board. It doesn't always work out.

Indecent Proposal infamous money in bed scene recut with Honus Wagners.

Resident Evil #1: The Umbrella Conspiracy - Book Review

The Resident Evil video game series provided me with some entertainment when I was a teenager. I have not really followed the series past Code Veronica on the Dreamcast, however.

As an avid pooper and reader, after seeing a new Resident Evil video game was being released I recalled the book series that I partially read when I was younger and sought out the first book in the Resident Evil series to touch that nostalgia. Book numero uno is Resident Evil: The Umbrella Conspiracy by S.D. Perry. (1998)

The result: yeah, boring. I think the book does a decent job of translating the original video game into a novel narrative, but as an adult I found the writing to be more or less on a child's level of material. It is all stiff and somewhat unimagintive and though involving mature subject matter, blood, guts, and zombies, the truth is, younger child readers are the target audience of the simple text.

2017 Topps Series 1 Blaster Break: The Inserts

I grabbed a blaster box of 2017 Topps Series 1 baseball cards. Here are some pictures of the insert cards that came from it. The only notable base card from the box is featured as well, a Dansby Swanson RC.
In the first picture, top left corner, that baseball card is the special Jackie Robinson patch card that comes one per blaster. The retro Jackie Robinson card right below that is just an unumbered promo card advertising products that Topps sells on the backside.

I like the 1987 border cards, 1987 Topps is involved in some some of my earliest baseball card collecting memories. Manny Machado and Kris Bryant are pretty good players to pull, though, not really valuable in terms of card selling if one is into such things.

The Clint Robinson card is a rainbow foil variant.

VS #1 Scott Blair Comic with Original Art Sketch CGC Gold Series

Here are my copies of the comic VS created by Scott Blair. On the left is the regular #1 issue signed by Scott Blair. On the right is a blank variant version with an original sketch done by Blair, graded 9.6 by CGC, Gold Signature series as it is autographed by Blair.

Blogger doesn't like things to get too sexy, but after some consideration I think that sharing this comic sketch cover is not too far over the line in terms of material. If a drawn line on a drawing is too sexy, the offended party is weird. I mean, museum art with nudity is not really that different and has cultural value, thus a lil vampire butt crack definition I think is just as culturally, um, significant for admiration.
